StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner | Review

In the warmer months my skin produces more oils providing my dry skin some relief but as the weather has cooled off in the last few weeks here in New York I immediately saw the change in my skin.  With the cooler temperatures my skin is back to reality and dry so I’ve switched up many things in my skincare regime that I’ll be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks in what I’ll call Skincare Sundays.

I’ve been trying some new items when it comes to skincare but I wanted to start Skincare Sunday’s discussing one of the newer products that has also become an essential part of my skincare routine.  YES I’m calling it essential after only trying it out for about 3 weeks now because I’ve already noticed a definite improvement in my skin.

I swear I wish I wouldv’e took  before & after pictures for you beauties so you can see if for yourself. I looked into the magnifying lighted mirror I have sitting on my desk and I actually saw the pores in my face.  This was a shock to me because I’ve never seen pores on my actual face, sometimes on my nose yeah but never on my actual face.  It’s true to all my fellow 80’s babies, we getting older.  But in the true form of black don’t crack I was proactive with basically eliminating the pores altogether with the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner.

Besides the hyper pigmentation and scarring I have above my mouth from growing up with eczema, I do have relatively good skin.  I’m not really acne prone and the only time I have any kind of pimple or bump would be around that dreadful hormonal time of the month.  So this is why I can remember the day I clearly saw visible signs of aging back in September.  I’ll be 34 next month so it’s starting to hit home for me.  That’s why I’m so thankful I had the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner on deck.

The StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner claims to “reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and refine texture for a smooth, even complexion”.  Now I myself was skeptical about this lightweight anti-aging moisturizer that claimed to deliver instant gratification.  But it was definitely true, I could visibly see that more pores weren’t as open within just a few seconds of putting it on.  After testing it out myself I can clearly see it but just in case my word isn’t good enough for you, peep the results from StriVectin’s clinical studies with this product.

Before I would never use a skincare product with retinol during the day.  I was led to believe that retinol combined with exposure to the sun was a no no and would cause more damage than good.  But I guess that’s why they say never say never right?!

StriVectin is known for their NIA-114 technology that they use in just about every one of their products.  This technology has been proven to fight signs of aging by nourishing the skin with a barrier of moisture.  The NIA-114 technology also counteracts the fear of using Retinol for your skin making it aggressive enough to elimate those fears of damaging effects from the sun.  This StriVectin moisturizer “purifies and refines both skin tone and  texture, while delivering superior age fighting benefits.”

Now that I’ve been using this for about three weeks I can clearly see the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner as a fundamental part of my skincare routine.  Although you can use it both day and night, right now I’m only using it in the morning before my makeup application.  The StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner gives your skin more of a mattified finish and since I don’t always apply a primer (but I do always apply sunscreen if I’m going outside) this serves as a nice two in one kind of product even if it’s not meant to act as a primer, in my opinion it’s definitely doable.

If you’re skin has already begun to see the effects of the change of weather or you’re looking for a solution to those crater looking holes in your face I highly recommend that you check out the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner.  I know it’s a little pricey but trust me that instant gratification is worth every scent.  Find out more information about the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner check out their website here.  They’re currently having 20% off for their New Season, New Skincare promotion along with Free Shipping so now is the perfect time to step your skincare game up with StriVectin.

  • No, but I need to switch it up. My skin is already getting really dry.

    • Kay’s Ways

Yeah now is the time to start looking into heavier products, it’s getting cold. that’ll take a toll on our skin

  • Kasi Perkins

That sounds like a really great product! I’m here for reduced appearance of pores! Yes, I’ve had to switch from my summer light weight moisturizer to my fall/winter heavier moisturizer! I’m still not ready for the cold! Lol :-/

    • Kay’s Ways

Me neither Kasi, but it’s coming whether we like it or not lol

  • That great that it’s working for you! I would probably still use an SPF anyway b/c I’m paranoid like that 😛 But I have a Strivectin Retinol product that has the SPF built in so it’s nice that I can eliminate a step!

    • Kay’s Ways

Oh yeah definitely have to keep the SPF on deck! That’s good to know they have other products for a 2 in 1 product

  • I need to check this out for my super-oily pores! I’ve switched my skincare because heavy acne treatment is making my skin terribly dry 🙁

    • Kay’s Ways

I’d love to know if and how it works for you if you do try it. My pores aren’t so bad and since my skin is dry I’d like to know if it makes a different for my oily girls.

  • I bought a sample of this from Ulta the other day but I haven’t tried it yet. We;ll see how it ends up working for me.

    • Kay’s Ways

Cool Stacie, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. My pores aren’t so bad so I’d love to hear how it helps other skin types and concerns.

  • Jonna

I’ve never heard of this brand before. Definitely worth checking out because I do have some large pores on my face. Not craters lol but large still.

    • Kay’s Ways

      LOL, anything that helps right?!

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I am trying out this product from Strivectin too. I don’t really have enlarged pores but I’m always glad to add on more retinol!

    • Kay’s Ways

Same here, my pores aren’t bad but the fact that I saw a difference like immediately, I was all for it. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it Allison

  • Yes my skin in the Fall is much different than the summer.

    • Kay’s Ways

      #TheStruggle

  • I’ve never heard of this product before but I’m glad it’s working for you! Once summer is over my skin is super dry so I need to look into changing up my skincare regimen.

    • Kay’s Ways

Yup Tanay, it’s the season to start switching it up

  • I’m nervous about products with retinol and perhaps it’s because, as you said, I’ve heard all the warnings. It always seemed like a step I didn’t necessarily need to take with skincare but perhaps as I age, I should take another look.

    • Kay’s Ways

LOL Seriously that was my thing too. I’ll be 34 next week so I’m like yeah let me see what this is about.

  • Color Me So Crazy

I love this product! I’m a believer, too AND I love that StriVectin always has great promos.

    • Kay’s Ways

Yeah I’m gonna have to look into more things from their line. What are some of your favorites?

  • LaVonndra Johnson

I currently use a pore refining cream, but I’m definitely gonna have to check into this one as well.

    • Kay’s Ways

In my opinion, it’s definitely worth a try!

  • LaQuisha Hall

Glad to hear that there was great results! I will check this out for fall!

    • Kay’s Ways

Right?! Me too! If you try it let me know how you like it

  • Deidre Harris McMillan

Thanks Deidre! I’m happy I get to try it out & share my thoughts

I just recently heard of this. Good to have a first hand review and know that it actually works. I need to tighten the pores in my t-zone.
