Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen Grow & Restore Line Review

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Line | Review

Combine a Ulta BOGO sale with a Glamtwinz video demonstration using the products I’ve been wanting to try from Shea Moisture, yeah that was an easy sell.  I’m a sucker for good hair care and since I’ve been using so much stuff up from the hair stash I thought it was time for a little treat.

Now if ya don’t know, now you know – I love me some Jamaican Black Castor Oil!!  It honestly has been one of the key ingredients throughout my hair journey over the years that I’ve used to get healthy hair.  I mean come on, JBCO is the reason I don’t have a bald spot in the middle of my head and I can walk around with my edges in tact.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave In Conditioner

Now, Shea Moisture hair care products are no stranger here on Kay’s Ways.

As a matter of fact, the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Leave in conditioner was one of my favorite leave ins.  I say was because this time around things just aren’t the same.

Now in no way am I jumping on the bandwagon here, you can see my initial reaction to the change of texture when I purchased it over on my channel.  It just wasn’t the same consistency of the perfect blend of liquid & cream that made the product absorb straight into my tresses.

Don’t get me wrong though, this version of the Shea Moisture JBCO leave in conditioner is still moisturizing and provides a good amount of slip for detangling.  It smells great and all but I honestly don’t get the same joy that I did when I had it the first time around.

It could also be because I’ve been addicted to a whole different leave in conditioner.  Wanna know which one that is???

Luckily I was able to pick up 2 more of the products from the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shea Moisture line during a more recent Ulta haul.  Since I had no prior experience with these products I was excited again.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Rinse Out Conditioner

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Rinse Out Conditioner
Not only is the line based on the almighty JBCO but the rinse out conditioner is also formulated with Shea Butter, to moisturize, nourish & strengthen the hair, Peppermint; to increase circulation that promotes healthy hair growth and Apple Cider Vinegar.

Sidenote – The ingredients have changed though because as you can see from the stock photos they have Keratin listed as the 3rd key ingredient – I see you Shea Moisture

Collectively these ingredients made for soft, manageable, moisturized and refreshed hair.  Maybe my wig was too tight but I didn’t get the full appreciation for this conditioner until I used it as a co wash to refresh my 2 strand twists.

You see my hair has been up in twists underneath my unit that I’ve been rocking all last week.  So when it came to wash my hair I figured a quick co-wash would do it and I sure was right!

I used Shea Moisture’s JBCO rinse out conditioner to refresh my twists and one of the first things I noticed was how invigorated my hair & scalp felt thanks to the peppermint.  The conditioner absorbed into my strands nicely but I wanted a nice coating while I handled my business in the shower so I used about 7 pumps.

With this being a 13oz bottle, I can see myself getting a good 6 or 7 uses out of it so I think it’s a good value at $11.49 at Ulta.  You can also find it right on Amazon for less than $10!

Another Sidenote –  I do believe the Leave in Conditioner should be repackaged into a simple pump style jar like this one on the rinse out.  The open top really annoys me!  It’s inevitable that hair gets in it, you spill it or conditioner oozes out the top or Khloe will roll by to stick her hands in it; it’s just too stressful for me.

That night I fell asleep with my hair still drying in the t-shirt and thankfully I didn’t wake up to a disaster on my hands. I was actually pretty impressed at how soft, leightweight, managable & shiny my hair was.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Rinse Out Restorative Hair Serum

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Hair SerumI then went in to apply the serum to my scalp and it made for a really relaxing scalp massage.

I love the stimulation I get when applying this to my scalp.  It felt so good the first time I used it I went a little (or a lot) heavy handed with it.  I mean it was dripping down the back of my neck, babe even asked me was I sweating 😂😂😂

It’s super lightweight & does not weight my hair down.  It’s great at locking the moisture in my hair as well so I didn’t only use it on my scalp (that massage was everything I tell you!).  I can go 2-3 days without having to add any extra product to my hair.  Perfect for any lazy girl hair care routine.

See with Shea Moisture having so many amazing hair care lines and products for all hair types it’s bound you’ll find something that your hair loves.  These Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore products are definitely where it’s at for me right now!
