Moisturizing Lip Care
Because dry lips is just not cute.
Before lipstick comes proper moisturizing lip care; can’t be walking around with cracked chapped or peeling lips. Proper lip care is important to have soft kissable lips and it sure will make it easier for your lipstick glad on too to glide on too!
Now since I’ve been shopping stash, I ran out of my holy grail lip balm, Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm with SPF 25 so I’ve been trying out some other moisturizing lip care products. Gotta keep those lips soft for babe you know.
Carmex Lip Balms
You ever see someone bust out the little white round jar with it’s yellow top, and find yourself licking your lips and wondering if your lips are in need of some moisture too? If y’all are friends and cool like that, you may even dip your fingers in the jar just to get some lip relief yourself.
Even before I was rocking lipstick, Carmex was definitely a go to product for moisturizing lip protection. For over 79 years, Carmex has been the chosen formula to “soothe, heal and protect” your lips. Carmex Lip Balm is a definite classic!
The menthol and camphor in Carmex helps to soothe severe dry lips and also will treat cold sore symptoms. This is one of the products that you can actually feel working on your lips. Other ingredients include petroleum, lanolin, acetyl esters, cocoa seed butter, paraffin, beeswax, flavor, salicylic acid and phenol.
This is definitely a household favorite so I keep the jar handy for the family (as recommended everyone is 2 and over) to use while keeping these cuter more feminine versions on deck in my purse and vanity. I’ve already ran through the purple & white tube, you know I just had to crack that baby open immediately!
The stylish designs from the limited edition Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm has sunscreen elements with an SPF 15. For some reason this lip balm has way more ingredients than I care to list but I’ll be sure to include a screenshot of the back of the packaging if you’d like to check them out.
Now can you imagine how irritated the lips of a trumpet player could be?! Well musician Dan Gosling wasn’t here for it.
Dan Gosling believes as wind and brass musician, healthy lips are essential. He created this lip care product to relieve swelling, inflaming, chapping, and other general problems associated with the lips. The Original ChopSaver lip balm contains ten certified organic ingredients and it is also dermatologist recommended.
In fact, being that it is an all natural product, it can be used on other areas of the skin as well. The star ingredient, Arnica Sunflower Extract is known to reduce puffiness around the eyes. With the additional benefits coming through from the castor oil, shea butter, mango butter, aloe vera and more your lips are guaranteed to take on even the mattest of lipsticks.
ChopSaver is available at your local CVS stores and comes in two versions; besides the all natural one described above there is also an option available for the added protection of SPF. Click HERE to get a $1 off your purchase of ChopSaver and test one out for yourself.
BUTTER elixir lip
For this next product, you may have a better chance of getting a review out of my 2 year old Khloe since she seemed to have got into it and used all the product from the jar. I didn’t snap a picture of the occurrence but as you can see this happens on the regular in my household. Getting into my lip products is nothing new for her somehow she always gets a hold of one of my lip items or lotions when no one is watching.
The crazy part is that the BUTTER elixir lip care was a harder consistency so when I dipped my finger into it, not much product came up. I literally had to swirl my finger around several times to get an okay amount of product to apply for moisture to my lips. How Khloe managed to clean out the jar I without me knowing is beyond me but I sure enough smelled it’s unique scent when she walked into the room. I wasn’t really a fan just for the simple fact of how hard I had to work to use the product but still was content with the ingredients for this particular product.
BUTTER elixir lip contains goodies of soybean oil, sunflower oil, beeswax, hemp oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, vitamin E aloe vera, organ oil, vanilla and cardamom. I actually had high hopes for the BUTTER elixir lip; maybe if the jar would’ve had more time to get broken in the product would’ve become a little more usable. That and the fact that you’d have to order directly online from the company’s website [you do get free shipping at $35, I’ll be reviewing some of their skincare items soon so stay tuned to see more of my thoughts on the BUTTER elixir products] but for right now this was my least favorite of the bunch.
Don’t forget to exfoliate!!!
After brushing my teeth while my lips are still damp I like to go on to some kind of lip scrub. As explained in my review for the Bliss Fabulips Lip Scrub I usually exfoliate my lips at least 1-2 times a week. I have returned to using an old faithful elf Studio’s Lip Exfoliator that will only run you a whopping $3. Infused with Vitamin E, She Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oil it does a great job at removing the dead skin from your lips while nourishing and protecting your lips. Like most elf Studio products I tried, they also make your lips taste great!!
After exfoliation grab one of your favorite lip balms to use alone of underneath your next lip of the day!
