If you’ve been reading the Kay’s Ways blog for some time now, you’d know I am a little obsessed with the lippies from Colourpop Cosmetics. Towards the end of the year I heard whispers about their upcoming collection called KaePop, their collaboration with model and actress Karrueche Tran. Most people know of her from her previous relationship with Chris Brown but with all that to the side, I knew I would jump on the KaePop Karrueche X Colourpop collection as soon as it was released. And you know I did right?
A few weeks back I shared this demonstration/ tutorial using some of the Super Shock Shadows from the Karrueche X Colourpop collaboration (actually my first time using their shadows altogether). They turned out to be more potent than I thought. You can see in the video, when I applied the first shade in Wilshire, I had to switch to a denser brush to get the transitional color blended out a bit more so the key with the matte shades is to build the color up slowly and blend out.
Out of the 4 Super Shock Shadows from the Karrueche collection, 3 of them are actually matte shadows. The aforementioned Wilshire is described on the Colourpop website as a “mid tone warm peachy beige in a Matte Finish”, “Crenshaw” is a “warm saddle brown in a matte finish” and my favorite from the shadows “Beverly” which is a deepened blackberry in a matte finish”. There’s also “Sunset Blvd” a “warm golden bronze in a pearlized finish” which was perfect in the center of the halo eye that I created.
The Super Shock Shadows are more of a creamy texture (similar to the Super Shock Cheek blushes that I swatched for you guys HERE). Actually, the collection did include 3 Super Shock Cheeks as well but I only purchased one in “Glo Up” which is stated to be “a rich gold with flashes of golden copper in a pearlized finish” to be used as a highlight shade. It is freaking gorgeous!!! Just keep in mind, due to the texture of the Super Shock Shadows & Cheek products it is important to close these tightly or they will dry up on you.
Of course I’m saving the best for last (well for me at least). As if you couldn’t tell from my previous post about the Ultra Matte Lip colors from Colourpop, I absolutely love these lippies!!! I mean at $6 a pop, how can you not? I picked up all 3 shades from the Karrueche X Colourpop collection (I skipped out on their matching lip liners since I have plenty in the stash plus you don’t even need to apply lip liners honestly, at least not with these).
Now my slow behind didn’t even realize they broke down the syllables of her name to each designated lip product so first you have Kae described as “a deep warm yellow brown” (my favorite lip product from the collection #KaeisBae). Then we have Rooch “a deepened russet wine” and Chi “a cool tone nude beige”. I thought Chi would look crazier on me but it actually didn’t look to bad without a lip liner even though I’d most likely mix it with one from the stash anyway. Peep the swatches and let me know what you think?
Are you a Colourpop addict like me?? What are some of your favorites?
Haven’t tried anything from Colourpop Cosmetics? Really for such affordable prices you definitely need to. The cool thing (cool for looks, not for my bank account) is they’re always releasing new collections. If you saw my latest haul video you know I actually placed an order after getting this collection because they released their newest lip formula, The Ultra Satin Lips (stay tuned for those swatches soon). So for those of you who prefer a more comfortable, glossy finish on their lips, Colourpop has you covered. They’ve even recently released some new brow products as well. Check out the Colourpop Cosmetics website, I can guarantee you’ll fill that cart up in no time. Need some guidance?? Here’s a few of my previous Colourpop swatch posts HERE, HERE or HERE for some inspiration. Let me know if you pick anything up and as always…
Keep Up With Kay!!!
