Even though October is over, I definitely wanted to come share the goodies I received in last month’s COCOTIQUE beauty subscription box. Stay tuned to the end to see a peek into some items I also won from their #LOVE2COCOTIQUE giveaway. October 2015 makes the fourth box that I’ve received from them; the third since I actually subscribed. COCOTIQUE keeps scratching my itch for a good beauty subscription service by providing us women of color items that we can actually use.
This month was no exception!
October’s COCOTIQUE box contained a mixture of skin and hair care products. The Fall/ Winter transition usually takes a toll on my skin so the items I received this month should be able to aid in keeping my skin hydrated. I’ve already begun sharing my latest skincare adventures (if you missed it click here) and I think I may be adding the one from this box to my regime. Now y’all know I’m all about healthy hair and two of these items in particular, I was excited to see in October’s COCOTIQUE box.
I’ve been wanting to try some of the latest releases from Lottabody. I remember their brand from back when we used to use their setting lotion in the good old dominican blow out days. In recent years, Lottabody has updated their line. Made for both Natural & Relaxed hair types, the Lottabody line is now infused with Coconut & Shea Oil to add moisture & shine to your tresses.
The product I received in my COCOTIQUE for this month is the Lottabody Wrap Me Foaming Mousse. There’s definitely been times where I’ve wanted some mousse to achieve some hold in flexi rod curls or even a twist out. I’m excited to have the Lotta body mousse on deck now so be on the lookout for a video using it really soon!
I was actually disappointed back in July their was a full Lotta Body COCOTIQUE box and I hadn’t subscribed last enough but it’s still available for purchase on the COCOTIQUE website. If I like the items I have from them now I’m definitely considering scooping that up before it sells out.
The other item I was excited to see in this month’s COCOTIQUE is one that I am very familiar with and you may have seen me use in the past (if not check it out here and here). Mielle Organic’s Mint Almond Oil is an all natual oil combination that helps seal the moisture into your tresses & promotes healthy hair and a heallthy scalp.
The Sweet Almond Oil conditions and provides elasticity while the Soybean Oil conditions & protects. With the added essential oil Peppermint Oil to aid in scalp circulation this combination of oils locks in moisture. I love that it’s lightweight and makes my hair really soft and airy. I’ve used it alone and both in my own oil mixture, it works great!
I was actually on my way of needed a new bottle soon so I’m glad I’m able to pour this 2 fl oz sample right on into my full 8oz. From now til December 31, 2015 we all get the opportunity to use the code COCOTIQUE to get 10% off your purchase so I’ll definitely be picking up some more from MielleOrganics.com!
Now is it just me or does it seem like the deep conditioners in these foil packets pack a little bit more punch??? I usually will keep a few foil packets on deck for when I feel my hair needs a boost of protein. Lately I haven’t really been doing much to my hair and may be even causing some tension to my 5 months post texlaxed hair (don’t ask me how time flew by so fast) with the bunning or while adding my clip ins. Now is a good time for me to do a restoring deep conditioning treatment, especially if I am going to texlax as normal when I hit 6 months post; which I don’t think I am because surprisingly my hair is still pretty manageable. I think it’s definitely getting used to my stretching methods.
Another brand that I’ve loved in the past, HASK has also updated there product line tremendously. Now there’s a variety of product lines that will cater to the needs of your hair. They have full lines for Argan Oil, Keratin Oil, Macadamia Oil, Coconut Oil and Almond Oil with a selection of shampoo, conditioners, shine oils and of course deep conditioners.
HASK has provided us in the October COCOTIQUE box their NEW Keratin Protein Smoothing Deep Conditioner. This deep conditioner is supposed to give a good balance of moisture and protein for all hair types to keep your tresses smooth, shiny and frizz free. With all the air drying I’ve been doing my hair after a while becomes real frizzy and you’ll actually see it poking out in the buns so this HASK Keratin Protein Smoothing Deep Conditioner that promises to repair demage, reduce breakage AND make my hair appear smoother & nourished, yes please! I’ll be using this in an upcoming wash day really soon. I’ll be sure to come share my thoughts with you beauties so make sure you’re subscribed here to stay up to date!
The other foilers included in this month’s COCOTIQUE come from OGX, another company that has a wide selection of products for various product lines. I actually had a bad experience in the past with a shampoo from OGX as explained here but I’ve been hearing some good things about them lately so I’m willing to give it another try from a different line of theirs.
We have two to choose from in this month’s box, the kukui oil line that is for hydration & defrizzing and the coconut water line that is supposed to provide weightless hydration. Honestly, these type of shampoo/ conditioner samples usually accumulate in the stash and I end up giving these samples away but I think the kukui oil sounds good to use on one of my curly virgin hair extension units so I may have to test that out.
The remainder of the items in the October 2015 COCOTIQUE box were body and skincare items from brands I haven’t tried previously but who doesn’t love discovering new items right? First up the Secret Garden Exfoliating Loofah Soap from the Heartland brand. This full size ring of natural loofa has a ring of glycerin around it that is sensitive skin friendly.
As soon as I opened the October COCOTIQUE, I loved the scent it had and this loofah soap was the culprit. It’s definitely a floral scent but with a light and airy vibe to it. I’m excited to try it out and hope it doesn’t dry my skin out which is easy to do since I have eczema and has already been battling issues with the changing weather. The glycerin in this product definitely sounds promising though since it’s known to promote moisture. I’m hopeful to see if it will leave my skin nice and soft. Heartland Fragrance Co. has a wide range of loofah soaps (even these cute little pirate ducks toy soap for the kiddies) as well as a wide range of bath & body products that you can check out on their website here.
To lock in the moisture after using the loofah soap, it may be a good idea for me to follow up with this Body Glaze we received from My Suga on Top. The one that I received in my October COCOTIQUE box was the Mango Mint Body Glaze but there are 9 different body glaze products available from My Suga on Top including Vanilla, Pink Suga and Coconut aromas. All of the My Suga on Top Body Glazes have a mixture of sweet almond, coconut and avocado oil along with their essence of that particular line; so in this case mango and mint. Applying this type of oil will help lock moisture into your skin which is exactly what I’m trying to do for the Winter when it’s always on the dry side. My Suga on Top also carries body scrubs and I’m eying some of those body frostings (not butter but frosting; intriguing right?). If you’d like to know more about the brand and what they have to offer be sure to check out My Suga on Top’s full selection of bath & body items on their website at sugaontop.com.
As I told you in a recent skincare post, I’ve been also trying out some new skincare products for the new season. I actually saw evologie skincare items featured in one of the recent Ulta Beauty mailings and after reading the description of this product, I think I’m going to add it to my current routine. As you may know I have hyper pigmentation above my mouth due to scarring from eczema. Even though it’s nothing a little corrector and concealer can’t help, I’d love to lighten up this area. I’ve been looking to somehow fade the discoloration there so the evologie Intensive Blemish Serum may be what I need. Don’t worry we’ll be sharing the skincare stuff really soon, so make sure you’re subscribed here on KaysWays.com! Even better we have a 20% code COCO20 from evologie.com that is valid until January 31, 2016 so stay tuned to hear my thoughts on how this works out for me. Take a look at their description of the product below.
