Since the New Year I know a lot of makeup addicts have decided to take a break from buying any beauty related products (holy grail restocks are okay) in something we call a “No Buy”. In one of the Facebook beauty groups that I’m a member of (hey #MM4WOC) we are motivating each other to stay strong lol. I myself can’t make that type of commitment so in my case, I’m on a self – proclaimed “Low Buy”; meaning I’ll buy something here or there, nothing really too major. I’ve been doing pretty good so far, but it doesn’t stop a girl from dreaming right?! So in this post I’ll present to you My Current Wishlist (Beauty & Technology) aka What I’d Buy If I Wasn’t on A Low Buy.
A lot of the items on my current Wishlist are fairly new to the beauty world. Every time you turn around makeup companies are releasing new stuff and it’s like you can barely keep up. I’m constantly running out of space in my beauty/ vanity area, trying to fit in the new stuff I accumulate. So much so that it becomes overwhelming and I felt like I wasn’t showing the stuff I did buy any love.
This is part of the reason I’ve started doing the “Shop My Stash” series over on the Kay’s Ways YouTube. Every 2 weeks, I pick different items from My Makeup Collection that I’ll be using in various looks. Press play below and take a look at my first ever shop my stash. I’m digging the fact that I get to rediscover forgotten gems that I just had to have then I put to the side when the next best thing was released.
Still can’t stop a girl from admiring from afar….
My Current Wishlist | The Stuff I’d Buy if I Wasn’t on a Low Buy
1. Marc Jacobs Fragrances – Daisy Dream Blush | ($78)
I love Marc Jacob Fragrances, over the holidays I purchased the rollerball set of 3 of the Daisy Dream fragrances. This floral fragrance would be great to add to my Spring rotation. Maybe I’ll get it through Scentbird since I haven’t even smelled it yet. That’s why I love that subscription service, you don’t have to make the full commitment to purchase the whole bottle! What’s Scentbird???
Or Volume 2 or Volume 1 or how about a whole Make Up For Ever haul?!!! I have yet to acquire any of their shadows as of yet but I’ve heard and seen so many good things about their reformulated eyeshadows. Make Up For Ever is such a respected brand in makeup artistry and even though I no longer freelance anymore (well maybe a special occasion or two) I definitely know I need to go downtown and hit up their studios soon. They have so many new releases out that I want to try like the updated 4K ready Ultra HD Foundation , Correctors & Concealers plus their new primer. Check out more of their new releases at MakeUpForEver.com
I just love a good luminous foundation. I’ve always wanted to try Becca’s foundations before but I was so caught up with the Shimmering Skin Perfecters (honestly to me in recent years Becca put the glow on the map!) so I never got a chance. I think my dry skin would love the luminosity that this weightless foundation would give. If you head over to BeccaCosmetics.com to find this foundation be sure to take a gander at the highlighters I mentioned too. LYFE!!!
4. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer ($28)
I’m so addicted to concealers it’s not even funny; hell just last week I was raving about the one I’m loving now right?! (Missed that? Peep that post HERE). Well I can’t help it I’m always looking for the next best thing to cover up the hyper- pigmentation on my skin that I have from eczema scarring. I love a good under eye concealer to cover up the darkness underneath my eyes and I’ve heard great things about this one from Urban Decay. Once i get through a few of the concealers I have already, I’m gonna test her out. I’m a pro member over on UrbanDecay, com so I actually have my next order planned in my mind because they too have released some things that I just need to try!
Yeah I know I said I have dry skin but in the Summer when it’s warmer outside my skin changes up so I change up on foundations. The fact that this has an SPF of 30 and come on it’s NARS! I love their original Tinted Moisturizer and a few of their other foundations so just because it’s new I’m like, I want it! The addiction is real y’all but I’m gonna hold out and see what pops off in the warmer months. If this sounds like it’s for you though, definitely check out the NARS Cosmetics website for more information.
My lashes can use all the help they can get so (again lol) I’m always looking for the next best thing. In order to find the holy grail of mascaras, I have to try them all right?! It’s not like y’all don’t already know this, remember Mascara Madness??? Well I’ve seen a couple reviews and demonstrations of the latest mascara from Marc Jacobs Beauty. With the name Marc Jacobs you know they’re type expensive, the reason why I haven’t bit the bullet on those brushes that I want too so maybe some Marc Jacobs Beauty items will make the cut when the Sephora VIB Sale rolls around this year. I’ll keep you posted though
7. elf Cosmetics Highlighter Brush ($3)
Now even though this brush is only $3 the fact that right now it’s only available on the Eyes Lips Face website right now is a set up waiting to happen. (They renamed this brush since releasing it though to the Small Tapered Brush). I love elf Cosmetics products so once I get to clicking around the site I’d mess around and have a $50 cart. Still in all I love a good highlight and I love the elf Studio brush line so I know once I run across it in person I’ll scoop that up real quick, see Low Buy, #score! Be on the lookout too at your local Target or elf Studio Stores (to my New Yorkers, did y’all know they made a new one in Ridge Hill Mall??? YAZZZZ!)
8. BeautyBlender Nude ($20)
The fact that the BeautyBlender Nude is sold out right now should let you know how big of a deal it is that this was recently released. I personally collect limited edition BeautyBlenders so this will be bought just to add to the collection. The nude color of the sponge won’t make it appear as dirty which is what I love about the BeautyBlender Pro (the black one). People ask if a blending sponge is worth $20 and the answer is abso-freakin-lutely!!! Nothing, I repeat nothing compares to the Original BeautyBlender. Find out more about this must have tool for all pro makeup artists and enthusiasts alike check out the BeautyBlender website HERE
Since we’re on the tools I thought I’d add another brush that I’ve been eyeing for a while. Even though strobing was all the rave a few months back, I still like a good contour every now and then. I bronze my face pretty much daily so why not get another makeup brush for it? Enter the Swirl Powder Contour & Bronzer brush from Tarte Cosmetics. The wooden handle and big fluffy bristles have me ready to add some more tarte stuff to my collection. I won’t dive into the website just yet (but you can HERE) since they’ll be at IMATS in the Spring so I’ll definitely be stopping at their booth for this baby (and a few of their Tarteist lip paints too 😉
If you didn’t know I’m a tech geek on the low. Had to throw some Techie Items in the mix of my #currentwishlist
10. Cricut Explore Air ($299)
I’ve been getting into planning now with my Happy Planner. But of course, ordering stickers and other stationary items cost money. Since I’m so much of a DIY-er I thought, why not make my own damn stuff right? The Cricut Explore Air electronic cutting machine will help me design and produce my own crafts for that unique touch to my planner. Learn more about the Cricut Explore on their website HERE.
11. Sony A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera ($649)
My iPhone stays telling me it’s out of memory so having a camera on deck would be great to capture all the moments in time. A fraction of the size of a huge DSLR camera, the Sony A6000 takes photos & records videos like the big boy toys. I want to invest in this camera to take along with me to events and other occasions. To name a few of this camera’s awesome features, it’s has wireless connectivity capabilities, super fast auto focus, interchangeable lenses and a monitor to ensure the perfect selfies!!! For full details here it is on the Sony website for the more high tech version list of features. This is definitely an investment piece so I’ll be looking out for sales and deals when the time is right.
For the most part I’ve been doing pretty good on my Low Buy, I just had to give in with Colourpop (you know how I love my Ultra Matte Lips). Last week they released their collaboration with Karreuche Tran (aka Chris Brown’s ex girlfriend) and I knew from the beginning when they said they were coming out with this collection I wanted IN! I have been rocking the lippies throughout the week (check out my Instagram to see them on) and I’m excited that I got the eyeshadow quad as well (my first Colourpop eyeshadows y’all!!). Next week I’ll be putting together a look featuring all the items so make sure you’re signed up here and on the Kay’s Ways YouTube channel to be the first to see it!
And yes I know, thanks to everyone who tagged me on Instagram about the upcoming Ultra Satin Lips that Colourpop will be releasing February 18th, 2016 but I think I’m gonna skip for now. (Check in with me next week, that’s a whole 7 days away so the temptation with swatches is gonna be real!). If you want to join in on the enticement??? Take a look at the photos that has Instagram Colourpop addicts everywhere going H.A.M. Follow the hashtag #LipDontLie for updates and swatches galore of the upcoming Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips Collection.
Wish me luck (and strength) on maintaining my low buy. For now I’ll continue to shop my stash and show some love to the makeup goodies that I already have. No worries, I have plenty of stuff in the stash that we can talk about in upcoming posts. The makeup companies won’t stop putting stuff out so I can always indulge later!
See anything in this post that you want to add to your own Wishlist? Let’s talk about it in the comments & as always…
Keep Up With Kay!!!
