Beyonce formation

Beyonce Formation Weekend Went a Little Something Like This

Unless you were sleeping in the woods with no internet connection, you’re aware that Beyonce dropped a surprise video on Saturday for her latest single “Formation”.  It was all the buzz (no pun intended) across social media that Beyonce has blessed us with some new slayage.  As a lifetime Beehive member, I was all here for Queen Bey’s dance moves, hair and fashion styles, and of course the cutest cameo from Blue Ivy Carter.  This was only the beginning of the Beyonce Formation weekend.

Blue Ivy Carter appears in Beyonce's Formation video

You couldn’t have missed it could you?  Just in case check out the official video for Formation HERE.

Okay ladies, let’s get in Formation

For all the people who had something to say about Blue Ivy’s hair or her husband Jay-Z’s features, Mrs. Carter sings “I like my baby hair, with baby hair and afros. I like my Negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils”.  Always repping her country upbringing, Beyonce sings “My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana. You mix that Negro with that Creole make a Texas bamma“.  So country in fact, she boasts “Earned all this money but they never take the country out me.  I got hot sauce in my bag, swag.”

Oh and in case you didn’t know she slays!

While visually Beyonce can’t do no wrong, I can’t say I was initially all the way here for the Formation song itself.  Beside the key lines that stuck out to me (my favorite being at the end “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper”) with so much other things going on this weekend, I just felt like I had to hear it a few more times to truly appreciate it.  Besides I knew that would change when she comes to shut down Superbowl 50’s Halftime Show on Sunday.  She just wanted to get us prepared and know the words to the song beforehand.

All Hail The Queen!

And shut it down she definitely did!  Beyonce took over the field with her dance brigade for the performance of Formation.  Yes we all saw it, she almost danced on her butt showing out in her dance battle with Bruno Mars (who also had he crowd hype with “Uptown Funk”; that’s still my 10 year old’s song) but Beyonce being the dedicated entertainer that she is never skipped a beat.  They then  continued to rock the house with the headliners Coldplay to conclude the rock star halftime show.

Beyonce Formation World Tour

She coming for y’all tax returns!!

Y’all know Beyonce likes to keep us on our toes so she wasn’t yet done for the weekend.  Low and behold right after the halftime show was over, a commercial played announcing “The Formation World Tour”!!  That’s right Beyhive, beginning this June, Beyonce will be tearing up the stage globally.  Tickets will be available for Beyhive Fan Club & American Express pre-sale starting Tuesday, February 9, 2016 and officially go on sale following Monday on the 15th through LiveNation.com.

#BeyGood, I’m joking – it’s really a good cause though

No worries though, I hear a lot of the proceeds will be going to relief for the water crisis out in Flint, Michigan.  As you know there are high levels of lead contaminating the water out in Flint.   The #BeyGood foundation will be helping their local United Way by providing water filtration systems like pitchers and faucets along with truckloads of water to the residents of Flint.

Are you here for Formation?? Let’s talk about it in the comments or as always…

I didn’t even realize it was Super Bowl time. They only care for soccer in Europe. I haven’t seen the video or heard the song, but will check it out 🙂

  • I’m not a member of the Bey hive but I did like the song and video. I am a say it like I mean it type of girl so I appreciate her addressing what you felt she needed to address and moving on. She has never appeared to be socially aware in the public eye so it was nice to see here say something.

  • I LOVE Beyonce and she absolutely made my weekend. Now I’m just waiting on the album to drop any day now.

I’m not even a huge Beyonce fan and I like the song. lol @ coming for your tax returns. I loved the message she gave. People are focused on hotsauce and Red Lobster biscuits, but she really went in.

  • Nope. Didn’t listen. Didn’t watch. Not my cup of tea. My tax return is for me. She has a lot of paper, lolol!

I am looking more at her tactics and how she just seems to master everything she does versus the song itself. I love watching her perform, the song is o.k., video is o.k. too.

  • I watched the video but I’m not interested in seeing her in concert.

  • I’m happy to see Beyoncé using her massive platform to speak out on issues. It’s important to make your voice heard and stand up for what you believe in – I’m hoping all the young girls (and boys) who follow her will be inspired by that sentiment.

  • Valerie Robinson

So glad she is speaking out for something that truly matters! Love her!

I’m hoping to make this concert when she comes to Atlanta in May. I appreciate her being one of the few celebrities who doesn’t flaunt every charitable thing she does. People assume that just because she doesn’t talk about it that she does nothing for her community which is so not true.
