Enjoying Summer Days While the Kia Sedona SX Slays

It’s already August so now is the time for the road trips!  Why not ride in comfort, safety and style with the 2016 Kia Sedona SX?! [PS – This is not a sponsored post but thanks to DriveShop I was given the opportunity to test drive the car for a week!  Cool #bloggerperks right?! I can’t believe it’s already August.  Are we seriously entering the last month of Summer?  I believe the last Mind Right Monday I shared with you guys, Daejon hadn’t even graduated yet but if you follow me on social media you got to witness my proud mama moment.  DJ not only came through with his diploma but 3 awards on top of that!  Now he’ll be entering middle school in just a few weeks.  Yup Back to School season is basically about to be in effect and in case you’re wondering, no I’m still not ready but he’s super excited to be going to junior high.

Jreu also turned four back in June so that means he’s starting Pre K this Fall too.  I actually can’t wait for him to go to school and see him in his little uniform.  He was under the weather for his birthday but a good meal and a Toys R Us trip always puts a smile on the kids faces.

I’m also excited for Khloe to be separated from him in the daycare.  I guess when you have 2 older brothers you’re just doomed to be rough and rugged but I just want her to develop her own individuality.  It’s going to be an interest Fall that’s for sure!

During the week of Daejon’s graduation I had the opportunity to test out another ride thanks to the good people over at DriveShop and can you believe I straight up can’t find my memory card?  So not only is the car tour I filmed for you guys (because y’all need to see this!) I’m also missing lots of footage from all of the festivities that I spoke of earlier.  Thank goodness for smartphones because me and babe both have memories to look back on but still it’s not the memories that I caught with my Samsung NX3300 you know?  [Insert Side eye to my iPhone 6S Plus]

This time around I was super excited to #DriveKia since I’ve never been in one before.  Let me tell you the 2016 Kia Sedona SX Limited was nothing like the minivans my Dad used to drive back in the day.  I just love how they’ve modernized driving in a van because really who’d have thought I’d fall in love with a van right?!  Well Kia sure proved me wrong.

Get this y’all. the windows in the back actually roll down!  This wouldv’e been a game changer back when my parents used to have me sit in the car and wait.  I don’t know if y’all remember old school vans but the glass used to open only about an inch wide (if that) and from the side mind you not even sliding down like a normal car window.  I used to hate if someone walked past that I knew because it wasn’t like I could talk to them out that little crack; that’d just be hella awkward and embarrassing right LOL.  The things we worry about when we’re young I tell you.

If you need room you have plenty with the 2016 Kia Sedona.  The middle seats have a sliding track where you can even fully recline the seat if you plan on taking a long drive.  Why not watch a movie while you’re at it with the flip up console that plays DVDs, CDs or you can connect an SD card or USB and get your entertainment all the way together.  Kia even supplies 2 sets of wireless headphones and remote control so the kids don’t need to interrupt the driver to handle all that.  No worries for a glare on the screen either since the windows in the back have the sunshade screens.

There’s plenty of cupholders (12 to be exact!) and at least 4 outlets for everyone’s phones & devices to stay fully powered up and of course you get your bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel mounted controls.  There’s even a little fold down mirror that allows you to watch the kids without the need to fully turn around making it really safe for you to keep your eyes focused on the road as you should with your precious cargo.

From the power sliding doors, double sunroofs, power folding side view mirrors and keyless entry, the Kia Sedona SX is like a mini airplane on wheels.  The seats not only have the warming feature that we’ve seen over the years but it also cools!  Like no more burnt booties when you enter the car that’s been sitting in the beaming sun.  YAZ Kia yaz!

KIA Sedona Assisted Parking

I was also really impressed with the GPS system; like there is no way you can get lost with this bad boy.  If you’re on the highway the screen will show you the lanes and signs to look for with arrows and all telling you your directions.  There’s no mistaking where you are supposed to go.

The same monitor also assists you with parking and that’s also a super cool feature.  When in reverse you get to see all around the car with the 4 cameras and even a top view of the car.  I swear this is the worst to explain in words which is why I filmed the video, the Kia Sedona SX is a must see and since I’m still praying to find that memory card, if I do I will still end up uploading the tour because it is truly that good!  Starting at $39,900 if you’re looking for the perfect road trip ride, look no further than the 2016 Kia Sedona SX.  For more information be sure to visit Kia’s website because they do have about 5 variations of the Kia Sedona that starts as low as $26,400.

We definitely started the Summer of right with that ride and for the most part we’ve just been enjoying the great outdoors with the family.  From the park to the mall trips and more we’re not done yet.  So yeah it’s August but there’s way more fun to be had!  Gotta hit up a few amusement parks in the next few weeks and even though I just came off from a week (plus) vacation – (BTW stay tuned because later in the week I’ll be sharing me and babe’s trip to #MountAiryResort) but I plan to take another one at the end of August when Daejon finishes Summer Camp.  Gotta enjoy the Summer while it’s still here!

Can you believe it’s August already?  How have you been enjoying your Summer so far?  Let me know down in the comments below and as always

Keep Up With Kay!!!

Summer has been fun, but I’m ready for the school year to start. I chuckled when you mentioned the back window rolling all the way down. We didn’t own a van, but I remember riding with friends that had a mini van and OMG, the struggle was real riding in the back.

  • I cannot believe it is already August. It feels like summer just started! This van looks super spacious and I’m loving all the technology!

  • Summer is really flying by. I’m not ready for fall. lol Looks like a cool care. I’m not much of a minivan person, but this is great for a big family like yours.

  • Tia

I cannot believe how quickly the summer flew by, its already time to go back to school. This minivan looks like it fits your family and your needs perfectly.

  • I’m ready for summer to come and go!!! Being preggo has me super hot….anyway back to you LOL Beautiful family btw and cheers to all that the little ones have accomplished. So nice! That car looks super roomy. I have been looking for something that is more family friendly than what we have and maybe I should test drive this…

Kia is amazing! I don’t think I have ever been in a Sedona but I own a 2016 Soul. Your family is so cute!

  • Leslie Nichole

Kia has totally stepped it up in the last few years. I’ve had 3 Kia’s and I love them. I’ve got the 2016 Optima right now and it’s spoiling me, hah. It looks like you guys had a great time! That is an awesome perk!

August. I am having a really hard time believing that school starts any minute. My middle son is a minivan fanatic – he’ll have to check this one out for us… 🙂

Kia is really stepping it up! Can you believe summer is almost over? ^sigh

  • JeeYoung

What a great review, we are definitely looking for a bigger family car!

  • Christine St.Vil

Aww what a cute family! I’m not sure who is behind Kia’s rebrand but they need a serious raise. I’ve been able to test-drive 2-3 of their new models and have been equally pleased each time. I’m not a mini-van type of gal, but I can’t say never if it’s to the Kia Sedona 🙂

  • Marie Barber

We are looking for a bigger family car i didnt even know kia did big family cars! This look great, cute family you have too 🙂

  • That is a LOT of space! Yeah these are nothing like the mini vans from back in the day.

  • Katherine Gilbert

This sounds like a great car. I love how much room you have. I also remember those darn windows. I had friends whose parents had these types of vans. Yes very awkward.

  • That’s a pretty sweet ride! I didn’t know much about Kia vehicles but this is definitely worth a serious look.
