I’m just trying to beat the heat, how about you???
If you’ve been following my healthy hair care journey for a while now, you know I have been Relaxer Stretching. It’s been so long since I’ve texlaxed I didn’t even realize the end of this month makes a year since I’ve relaxed my hair!!! Thank God I didn’t experience major shedding or any major setbacks over the last year. It all comes with learning your hair and each time I stretched my relaxers I just increased the time period.

Now I’m not sure if I’m going to relax it, I’ll wait til the real heat comes to decide but until then as a beauty blogger, you know I can’t resist testing out new healthy hair care products in conjunction with some of my Holy Grail Hair Care items.
I wanted to give you guys a first look into the products I’ll be using for my protective styling during the Spring & Summer. Let me know if there’s anything in particular that you’d like a review or demo on as I work my way through the products down in the comments. Also stay tuned to the end of this post so you can find out how to enter for your chance to beat the heat of the upcoming months for your own tresses!
EDEN BodyWorks Coconut Shea Control Edge Glaze
EDEN BodyWorks JojOba Monoi All Natural Hair Oil
Thanks to the ladies over at Type 4 Naturals, I won this collection of hair care products from EDEN BodyWorks. I was actually able to choose 5 full size products to add to the stash. I was already a fan of their products so I couldn’t wait to dig in to the goodies (hence the visible usage in the shampoo & conditioner, note to self – take pictures first). Since they’re all natural products, I don’t mind using them on both myself and Khloe’s hair. The Coconut Shea co wash was one of my go to’s for both of our hair last Summer so I’m really excited to put these to the test as well. I’ve tried a few of the items already and I’ll be sure to come back with a post dedicated to my thoughts on the EDEN BodyWorks haircare line. Plus as a bonus, EDEN BodyWorks was created by an African American entrepreneur by the name of Jasmine Lawrence. I’m always down for supporting my fellow womenpreneurs.
In the next few weeks when I need a protein reatment this will be what I reach for to give a whirl. Created by another woman of color entrepreneur, Saleemah Cartwright, Hydratherma Naturals was created to fill the need of providing a good balance between moisture retention and minimizing breakage. I’m super excited to try these products out and have been on their website just looking for a few more products to try out from the line. I’ve actually used the shampoo bar for my makeup brushes and it worked bomb! (The protein balance leave in conditioner and the Daily Moisturizer Growth Lotion sound like they need to join in on the fun). Check out the Hydratherma Naturals website for more product information, hair care tips, photo galleries, testimonials and more! If you love healthy hair care, trust me you’ll be all up on it just how I was!
This year the team over at OGX Beauty has released a new line to their collection of hair care products. The Quenching Coconut Curls was developed to nourish strands & boost spirals for frizz free curls. Inspired by the islands, this line has a blend of coconut oil, sweet honey and citrus oil that aids in bouncy and shiny curls. I’ve had a bad experience with a different line from them previously (catch that backstory in this video) but I’ve been reading lots of reviews on the Coconut Curls line and I can say I can’t wait to try these products for a flexi rod set on my transitioning hair. Check out the OGX beauty for more information on their other lines as well as to enter for the chance to win a year worth of OGX products plus more!
With over 30 years in the game, the curl experts of Ouidad created this duo to help beat the heat and fight frizz from humidity. Their flagship salon is actually here in New York City; so one day I will visit them for a professional coloring process but until then I’ll play with color with my wigs LOL and more of my DIY methods.
As a matter of fact, I can see me using the gel as a way to prolong the curls from a twist out, braid out or bantu knot situation. This gentle, sulfate free Climate Control Gel works from the inside of your hair strands to block humidity from entering without the stiffness, stickiness or weight that a traditional gel would give. With added nourishing extracts like Almond, Henna Leaf, Chamomile, Kiwi that keeps the hair moisturized and frizz free I can see how their Heat & Humidity Gel is one of their best selling products!
As a finisher, sometimes you just need something to lock it all in and keep your do in place all day. What you don’t want is the crunchiness or flakes that can sometimes come with using a hairspray. Ouidad’s Curl Last Flexible Hold Hairspray helps your hair to maintain it’s moisture without leaving behind the sticky buildup. Your hair is left to move and curls are able to bounce while maintaining its hold with “strength, shine and all-day frizz protection”.
Got Frizz? Well, Ouidad is giving you the opportunity to beat the heat!!!
If you can’t make it to the Ouidad salon don’t fret, I’ve teamed up with Ouidad to give you the chance to win one of these Ouidad salon exclusive duos for yourself. Head over to my Instagram account here to find the picture you need to share for your entry and more details on the giveaway.
Now before I let you go I have to let y’all know that Shea Moisture is having a BOGO FREE sale over at Rite Aid this week ladies, so now’s the time to stock up on some of your favorites. I just had to pay a visit and see what they had on the shelves. I was able to snatch up 2 of the hair masques that I’ve been wanting to try from them. I guess it could be a good and a bad thing that they didn’t have everything I wanted. Good because I didn’t go too nuts and spent less than $25 bucks for my goodies but bad because I really wanted the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave in Conditioner. Best believe I tried though; I went to 3 different Rite Aids in my area because it really has become one of my faves but none of them had it. Instead I just went ahead and picked a new leave in conditioner from the Curls line. Check out the haul photo I posted last night over on Instagram HERE.
All these products plus everything that I’ve been receiving in my Curlkit boxes are plenty of hair care items to get me and Khloe though our Spring & Summer hair styling. How will you be styling your hair for the Spring & Summer? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know down below or as always you can
