If you watched my latest haul video (click here if you missed it) you saw a recent purchase I made was the Design Essential Sleek Edge Control. I was a little skeptical about purchasing a edge control for $10.99 but at 6 months post I was in desperate need of something that was gonna tame these edges since I planned on wearing my own hair for the Thanksgiving holiday. I’ve heard talks for a while that the Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control was the truth!! I finally decided to bite the bullet and spend my coins and I’m so glad I did. This edge control had my edges laid for Thanksgiving.
Even today as I am preparing to texlax this week the Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control managed to make my bun look neater without leaving any white residue behind. The consistency of it is like most other edge controls so a little goes a long way. This is not a product you need to overdo it with or it’ll be real noticeable that you have applied product to your hair. Funny enough, when applied correctly, it absorbs more like grease in your hair and doesn’t leave a lot of product build up since it has a staying power for at least 6 (if not more) hours.
When I use my edge control I usually style my hair as usual using my LOC method (today I actually skipped the cream, just noticed that lol). I would position my hair in the manner it will be styled in and then use the edge control as the very last step of me doing my hair. It just makes it easier for me to add those finishing touches to my style by combing it in directly to the edges. I then apply a silk scarf to hold my hair down while I do my makeup, get dressed and continue to get ready. When I unwrap the scarf my edges be laid something serious without the crust!!! I can’t stand no flaky looking edges. Design Essentials just make them silky, soft and most importantly sleek.
When I purchased the Design Essentials Sleek Edge control I noticed they had two different formulas, one for Relaxed hair & Natural Hair and one specifically for Naturals. I of course chose the one for Relaxed hair but for the simple fact that I am 6 months post, this edge control has been a God send!!! I can sure see this becoming a staple product In my hair regime from now on.
You can find Design Essentials in your local drugstores, beauty supply stores or if you just can’t wait to get your hands on it here on Amazon as well. I can’t wait to try out more of their products! What are some of your faves?
