What I’d Get it I Wasn’t on a No Buy | Beauty & Technology Current Wishlist 2016

Since the New Year I know a lot of makeup addicts have decided to take a break from buying any beauty related products (holy grail restocks are okay) in something we call a “No Buy”.  In one of the Facebook beauty groups that I’m a member of (hey #MM4WOC) we are motivating each other to stay strong lol.

I myself can’t make that type of commitment so in my case, I’m on a self – proclaimed “Low Buy”; meaning I’ll buy something here or there, nothing really too major.  I’ve been doing pretty good so far, but it doesn’t stop a girl from dreaming right?!  So in this post I’ll present to you My Current Wishlist (Beauty & Technology) aka What I’d Buy If I Wasn’t on A Low Buy.

My Current Wishlist | Beauty & Technology

A lot of the items on my current Wishlist are fairly new to the beauty world.  Every time you turn around makeup companies are releasing new stuff and it’s like you can barely keep up.  I’m constantly running out of space in my beauty/ vanity area, trying to fit in the new stuff I accumulate.  So much so that it becomes overwhelming and I felt like I wasn’t showing the stuff I did buy any love.

This is part of the reason I’ve started doing the “Shop My Stash” series over on the Kay’s Ways YouTube.   Every 2 weeks, I pick different items from My Makeup Collection that I’ll be using in various looks.  Press play below and take a look at my first ever shop my stash.  I’m digging the fact that I get to rediscover forgotten gems that I just had to have then I put to the side when the next best thing was released.

Still can’t stop a girl from admiring from afar….

Without further ado, here’s the things I would want to purchase, if I wasn’t on a No Buy.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide | Current Wishlist Beauty & Technology

1. Marc Jacobs Fragrances – Daisy Dream Blush | ($78)

I love Marc Jacob Fragrances, over the holidays I purchased the rollerball set of 3 of the Daisy Dream fragrances.  This floral fragrance would be great to add to my Spring rotation.  Maybe I’ll get it through Scentbird since I haven’t even smelled it yet.  That’s why I love that subscription service, you don’t have to make the full commitment to purchase the whole bottle!  What’s Scentbird???

2. Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 3 ($44)

Or Volume 2 or Volume 1 or how about a whole Make Up For Ever haul?!!!  I have yet to acquire any of their shadows as of yet but I’ve heard and seen so many good things about their reformulated eyeshadows.  Make Up For Ever is such a respected brand in makeup artistry and even though I no longer freelance anymore (well maybe a special occasion or two) I definitely know I need to go downtown and hit up their studios soon.  They have so many new releases out that I want to try like the updated 4K ready Ultra HD Foundation , Correctors & Concealers plus their new primer.  Check out more of their new releases at

3. Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation ($44)

I just love a good luminous foundation.  I’ve always wanted to try Becca’s foundations before but I was so caught up with the Shimmering Skin Perfecters (honestly to me in recent years Becca put the glow on the map!) so I never got a chance.  I think my dry skin would love the luminosity that this weightless foundation would give.  If you head over to to find this foundation be sure to take a gander at the highlighters I mentioned too.  LYFE!!!

4. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer ($28)

I’m so addicted to concealers it’s not even funny; hell just last week I was raving about the one I’m loving now right?!  (Missed that?  Peep that post HERE).  Well I can’t help it I’m always looking for the next best thing to cover up the hyper- pigmentation on my skin that I have from eczema scarring.  I love a good under eye concealer to cover up the darkness underneath my eyes and I’ve heard great things about this one from Urban Decay.  Once i get through a few of the concealers I have already, I’m gonna test her out.  I’m a pro member over on UrbanDecay, com so I actually have my next order planned in my mind because they too have released some things that I just need to try!

5. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF30 ($44)

Yeah I know I said I have dry skin but in the Summer when it’s warmer outside my skin changes up so I change up on foundations.  The fact that this has an SPF of 30 and come on it’s NARS!  I love their original Tinted Moisturizer and a few of their other foundations so just because it’s new I’m like, I want it!  The addiction is real y’all but I’m gonna hold out and see what pops off in the warmer months.  If this sounds like it’s for you though, definitely check out the NARS Cosmetics website for more information.

6. Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Volume Mascara ($26)

My lashes can use all the help they can get so (again lol) I’m always looking for the next best thing.  In order to find the holy grail of mascaras, I have to try them all right?!  It’s not like y’all don’t already know this, remember Mascara Madness???  Well I’ve seen a couple reviews and demonstrations of the latest mascara from Marc Jacobs Beauty.  With the name Marc Jacobs you know they’re type expensive, the reason why I haven’t bit the bullet on those brushes that I want too so maybe some Marc Jacobs Beauty items will make the cut when the Sephora VIB Sale rolls around this year.  I’ll keep you posted though

7. elf Cosmetics Highlighter Brush ($3)

Now even though this brush is only $3 the fact that right now it’s only available on the Eyes Lips Face website right now is a set up waiting to happen.  (They renamed this brush since releasing it though to the Small Tapered Brush).  I love elf Cosmetics products so once I get to clicking around the site I’d mess around and have a $50 cart.  Still in all I love a good highlight and I love the elf Studio brush line so I know once I run across it in person I’ll scoop that up real quick, see Low Buy, #score!  Be on the lookout too at your local Target or elf Studio Stores (to my New Yorkers, did y’all know they made a new one in Ridge Hill Mall??? YAZZZZ!)

8. BeautyBlender Nude ($20)

The fact that the BeautyBlender Nude is sold out right now should let you know how big of a deal it is that this was recently released.  I personally collect limited edition BeautyBlenders so this will be bought just to add to the collection.  The nude color of the sponge won’t make it appear as dirty which is what I love about the BeautyBlender Pro (the black one).  People ask if a blending sponge is worth $20 and the answer is abso-freakin-lutely!!!  Nothing, I repeat nothing compares to the Original BeautyBlender.  Find out more about this must have tool for all pro makeup artists and enthusiasts alike check out the BeautyBlender website HERE

9. tarte Cosmetics Swirl Powder Contour & Bronzer Brush ($34)

Since we’re on the tools I thought I’d add another brush that I’ve been eyeing for a while.  Even though strobing was all the rave a few months back, I still like a good contour every now and then.  I bronze my face pretty much daily so why not get another makeup brush for it?  Enter the Swirl Powder Contour & Bronzer brush from Tarte Cosmetics. The wooden handle and big fluffy bristles have me ready to add some more tarte stuff to my collection.  I won’t dive into the website just yet (but you can HERE) since they’ll be at IMATS in the Spring so I’ll definitely be stopping at their booth for this baby (and a few of their Tarteist lip paints too 😉

If you didn’t know I’m a tech geek on the low. Had to throw some Techie Items in the mix of my #currentwishlist

10. Cricut Explore Air ($299)

I’ve been getting into planning now with my Happy Planner.   But of course, ordering stickers and other stationary items cost money.  Since I’m so much of a DIY-er I thought, why not make my own damn stuff right?  The Cricut Explore Air electronic cutting machine will help me design and produce my own crafts for that unique touch to my planner.  Learn more about the Cricut Explore on their website HERE.

11. Sony A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera ($649)

My iPhone stays telling me it’s out of memory so having a camera on deck would be great to capture all the moments in time.  A fraction of the size of a huge DSLR camera, the Sony A6000 takes photos & records videos like the big boy toys.  I want to invest in this camera to take along with me to events and other occasions.  To name a few of this camera’s awesome features, it’s has wireless connectivity capabilities, super fast auto focus, interchangeable lenses and a monitor to ensure the perfect selfies!!!  For full details here it is on the Sony website for the more high tech version list of features.  This is definitely an investment piece so I’ll be looking out for sales and deals when the time is right.

For the most part I’ve been doing pretty good on my Low Buy, I just had to give in with Colourpop (you know how I love my Ultra Matte Lips).  Last week they released their collaboration with Karreuche Tran and I knew from the beginning when they said they were coming out with this collection I wanted IN!

I have been rocking the lippies throughout the week (check out my Instagram to see them on) and I’m excited that I got the eyeshadow quad as well (my first Colourpop eyeshadows y’all!!).  Next week I’ll be putting together a look featuring all the items so make sure you’re signed up here and on the Kay’s Ways YouTube channel to be the first to see it!

And yes I know, thanks to everyone who tagged me on Instagram about the upcoming Ultra Satin Lips that Colourpop will be releasing February 18th, 2016 but I think I’m gonna skip for now.  (Check in with me next week, that’s a whole 7 days away so the temptation with swatches is gonna be real!).

If you want to join in on the enticement???  Take a look at the photos that has Instagram Colourpop addicts everywhere going H.A.M.  Follow the hashtag #LipDontLie for updates and swatches galore of the upcoming Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips Collection.

Wish me luck (and strength) on maintaining my low buy.  For now I’ll continue to shop my stash and show some love to the makeup goodies that I already have.  No worries, I have plenty of stuff in the stash that we can talk about in upcoming posts.  The makeup companies won’t stop putting stuff out so I can always indulge later!

See anything in this post that you want to add to your own Wishlist?  Let’s talk about it in the comments & as always…

Yeah.. I would totally get the Sony mirrorless camera. We are all Nikon in the household it’s not compatible, but l would love to just carry that instead of the DSLR sometimes.

    • Kay’s Ways

Travel friendliness is what is making me feel like I need it.

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I need a good camera too. I have an old Sony (not at all like the one you’re eyeing), but it was always too difficult to use so I am lazy and use my phone. I may use my AMEX points and get a Canon or Nikon one of these days. I’ve heard good things about the Becca Foundation too, but I’m swimming in foundation lol

    • Kay’s Ways

My phone stays running out of memory so it’s either a new camera or upgrade my phone, I may end up doing the latter. Seriously I don’t to be buying anything else no time soon honestly lol. I am trying to at least empty one of my bottles before I grab a new one

  • Donna Shana

This is a hot list. I love Marc Jacobs’ Daisy, and even though I am a newbie makeup girl, I hear that those ELF brushes are great for starter and professional use.

    • Kay’s Ways

Thanks! The elf brushes are definitely where it’s at they’d be great for you as a newbie in makeup (me too as an oldie lol)

  • Why do these companies come up with these long names. Maybelline need to shorten those names. You are just a beauty guru. I love it. I have pulled out some items out the stash to use and that’s helped me to stick to using them.

    • Kay’s Ways

LOL they be killing me too sis. Yes I’m due to shop my stash again, I enjoyed using those products for the last 2 weeks

  • veena hussain

I too need a good camera. Mine is already very good but the auto focus settings makes so much noise.

Would love if you checked my latest post

    • Kay’s Ways

They usually all do, it’s so distracting. I’ll head over & check your site out, thanks for coming by!

  • Great picks! I love that tarte brush and the Naked concealer. I’m also dying to try the NARS skin tint!

    La Belle Sirene

    • Kay’s Ways

Thanks Courtney! Yes I think the NARS skin tint will be great in the warmer months.

  • porshia

Great video and tips. I am looking for a better camera as well. It makes a difference in videos.

    • Kay’s Ways

It does but your phone can do the job too. I”m debating if I should just upgrade my phone not sure yet. The good thing is Best Buy always have these on open box specials

  • Shantel Turner-Collins

Not really a makeup person but I do love eyeshadow so #2 is definitely on my list of products to buy.

    • Kay’s Ways

      Those colors are everything!

  • Great picks! I really want the beauty blender too even though I’m sure it’s the exact same as the original 😛

    • Kay’s Ways

yup just because its new we gotta have it lol

  • Great list, I’m definitely interested in checking out that Marc Jacobs Mascara.

    • Kay’s Ways

      YAZZZ! Thanks for stopping by

  • Oh man, I here ya…I could never do a strict “No Buy” but I too have given myself some guidelines for a “Low Buy” couple of months. I am going to start a 10 Pan Challenge to try and use up things I already have and then only allow myself to buy those amazing beauty bargains that come along. Great picks for your list…but that does remind me, I NEED to BUY a new Beauty Blender 😉

    • Kay’s Ways

No buys are the worst! I’m trying to hold off until imats or the makeup show in a few months. Good luck on your challenge!

  • Ursula Ball

I want that new camera on my Wishlist …I enjoyed your post and my bank acct keeps me in check! 🙂

    • Kay’s Ways

LOL trust me I know! I need a vlogging camera so it may be a necessity lol

  • Christine St.Vil

Wowsers! And I had the nerve to think I was creating an actual beauty arsenal of make-up LOL I wouldn’t even know where to begin with half of those items but love the concept of “shop my stash” 🙂

    • Kay’s Ways

Thanks Christine, it’s my weakness lol

  • Femi Lewis

I thought I was a product junkie…until I read your post! WOW! That’s all I can say. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with half these products!!!

    • Kay’s Ways

      I’ll show you lol

  • I have a Sony A35 I want to upgrade badly. The NARS Skin Tint is the BOMB. Moisturize a lot before applying it and you’ll be straight. Great wishlist items.

    • Kay’s Ways

Don’t be tempting me more lol. Does that camera have wifi or the selfie screen? If I can find something more affordable that has those features I’ll be straight.

  • Valerie Robinson

Your list is the bomb! Excellent selections. I love my Marc Jacobs fragrance too by the way. And the makeup addiction is real!

    • Kay’s Ways

LOL very real. Thanks for stopping by!!

  • Yami

I am also wanting to try the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. Thanks for the other suggestions.

    • Kay’s Ways

I’ve been wanting it for the longest but can’t even justify it at the moment smh

  • JoAnna Niles

Definitely know the struggle. I just bought a ring light and I was hesitant, but it’s so good! lol

    • Kay’s Ways

Whoop whoop a ring light is a necessity though lol

  • Tyra

I am trying not to buy too much either, but I do think I am in the market for a new camera. I will check the Sony out!

    • Kay’s Ways

Oh cool! The 5100 is an older model and just as good if not better than this one (so I hear)

  • Renee L Stambaugh

I am also trying not to buy so much this year, since I recently retired…however with all the new spring clothes coming out I kinda blew that already. And I must say I like your taste in perfume. I work part time as a perfume vendor.for Coty and we own Marc Jacobs…love his fragrances and the new ones like your #1 on your list…

    • Kay’s Ways

At least you’re set for the upcoming season and cute too. I LOVEE the Marc Jacobs fragrances, I’m sure I’ll grab it at some point (probably VIB season at Sephora, can’t pass up a sale lol). Thanks for stopping by!

  • Natural cosmetics Irena

This Makeup for ever palette is on my wishlist as well. 🙂

    • Kay’s Ways

I hear great things about their shadows!
