The Bdellium Tools 785 Tapered Blending brush allows you to apply your eyeshadow in order to add depth and dimension to the crease. My go to transition color is MAC Cosmetics Brown Script which can come off a bit too strong if applied with the wrong makeup brush. The 785 brush is nice and fluffy so it doesn’t pick up too much product, but the eyeshadow it does pick up is blended so effortlessly across my crease area giving a nice diffused application of my favorite transition color.
The Bdellium Tools 785 Tapered Blending Brush is one of my go to brushes for applying and blending my initial transition color for an eye look. So needless to say I was so excited when I received another one in my blogger’s bag from The Makeup Show. Did you see all the goodies that were packed into my swag bag??? Trust and believe having another 785 brush was a welcome addition to my makeup collection.
The Green Bambu Series from Bdellium Tools are all vegan and cruelty free. The handles are made from bamboo and they have soft synthetic hairs. I’ve had this brush since IMATS NYC 2013 and I have yet to experience any shedding in the hair which is amazing to me. I can’t stand having to pick little hairs off my face in between applying my makeup.
In fact I do recall a time I plucked a single hair out because it became longer than the rest of the bristles, but removing that hair had no effect on the brush. The best part about this makeup brush? It only retails for $9 on the Bdellium Tools website and they even offer free shipping on orders over $20. By the way the B is silent, because if I hear one more person call it ba-dellium tools I’m gonna punch the screen, yeah you YouTubers LOL 😉
The Battle of Tapered Blending Brushes
I’ve seen some people compare the Bdellium Tools 785 to the MAC Cosmetics 224 blending brush but for me they are two different brushes. While the 785 is considered to be tapered, it’s clearly more fluffy than the 224 brush. The handle is also shorter; although Bdellium also carries the 785 blending brush in their other series so you may find a match in handles in one of the others.
Both ferrules (the silver part that connects the brush to the handle) are equal in size as well as sturdiness. Both of the brushes have soft synthetic hairs, the MAC being just a tad bit softer but the Bdellium Tools 785 is a close second. When applying I don’t feel any scratchiness of tugging at all which is major for my sensitive contact lens wearing eyes.
The most noticible difference between the two are definitely the heads though and that changes the application. I tend to use my 224 brush both in the crease of my eye but prefer to use this for my nose contour as well, it just provides a more defined look while as I mentioned before the Bdellium Tools 785 would give it more of a diffused effect.
